Dear educators, cadets and graduates of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”, dear Forum delegates!
On behalf of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, I sincerely congratulate you on a significant date – the 80th anniversary of the founding of the university!
Your educational institution begins its development since 1944, when there was an urgent need to train merchant navy officers in the Black Sea region. And over the years, the university has traveled a glorious path, having trained more than 70,000 highly qualified specialists who make a significant contribution to the development of the maritime industry and the transport industry.
A modern approach to the organization of the educational process, an effective quality management system allows the university to successfully and creatively fulfill not only the important and responsible tasks of producing qualified specialists, but also the training of competitive world-class personnel in the future.
The traditional holding of the International Forum on seafarers’ education, training and crewing, in which representatives of the world’s leading shipping companies and enterprises of the maritime industry, manufacturers of simulators, international maritime associations, Ukrainian and foreign educational institutions, crewing agencies participate, is a testimony that the university continues to be the flagship of maritime education in Ukraine, a confirmation that the quality of training of seafarers’ in Ukraine is recognized by the international community. The results of this forum contribute to the further development of international cooperation in the maritime industry, improvement of seafarer training systems and standards, increasing the level of shipping safety in the world, protection of the marine environment from pollution and protection of human life at sea.
I am confident that the traditions established at the university will continue to be preserved for many years, and the graduates will be a model of professionalism and competence, continuing to make a significant contribution to the development of the country as a maritime state.
I sincerely wish the staff of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” new scientific achievements and discoveries, productive ideas and their successful implementation, preservation and multiplication of accumulated unique experience, talented and dedicated students, professional graduates, worthy continuation and preservation of special traditions of the university and future glorious anniversaries!
